The salmon fishing season in Tana starts on 1 June and lasts until 15 August. We recommend fishing from 10 June to 30 July. We kindly request all visiting fishermen to get to know the local, unwritten fishing rules and to respect other visiting fishermen and the locals. Local fishermen/farmers also have the right to fish with barriers in Tana River. This is an old tradition which is dying out. We hope that this does not provoke visitors and that our guests respect the strong, local fishing traditions for the Tana River. Fishing licenceVisitors have to pay a fishing fee to fish in the Tana River. You can do this on the Internet or by post. All persons are obliged to disinfect their fishing tackle and waders in order to prevent the spread of Gyrodactalus Salaris. There are disinfection facilities at the Shell petrol station in Tanabru. A daily fishing licence must also be purchased. A 24-hour fishing period starts at 18.00 and lasts for 24 hours. Fishing licences are divided into different zones.
